To commemorate what would have been Christine McVie’s 81st birthday, Stevie Nicks invited Harry Styles to join her on stage during a concert at Hyde Park in London. McVie, a pivotal member of Fleetwood Mac and the voice behind many of the band’s iconic songs, passed away in November 2022 after a brief illness.
Celebrating McVie’s birthday on July 12, Nicks and Styles delivered heartfelt renditions of Fleetwood Mac classics, including “Landslide” and “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.”
In a touching moment captured on social media, Nicks addressed the audience, stating, “Christine was Harry’s girl, she was my girl, she was your girl. She loved all of us; today was her birthday.” Reflecting on her grief, Nicks shared, “It’s taken me all this time to try and deal with this situation. My mom used to say, ‘When you’re hurt, you always run to the stage.’ That’s what I’ve been doing since Chris passed away.”
Nicks expressed gratitude to the audience for their support, emphasizing their role in helping her through her loss.
This performance marked yet another collaboration between Styles and Nicks, who previously sang “Landslide” together in 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles and performed “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” during Nicks’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the same year.
