The BRICS Business Forum commenced in Moscow, featuring the annual meeting of the BRICS Business Council on October 17. The forum addressed nine key areas, including financial services, digital economy, trade and investment, and agriculture. Sergey Katyrin, chairman of the Russian part of the council, highlighted the council’s focus on enhancing transport and logistics connectivity among BRICS countries, establishing a sustainable financial settlement system, and creating a unified digital infrastructure, including artificial intelligence collaboration.
The council successfully integrated new member countries into its agenda, with business representatives expected to engage fully next year. Delegates from Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, and Ethiopia attended the meeting. Brazil is set to host the next council meeting in 2025 and will take over the BRICS chairmanship.
The heads of the national parts of the council approved an annual report, which includes recommendations from working groups. This report will be presented to BRICS leaders at the upcoming summit in Kazan, scheduled for October 22-24. The summit aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including financial investment, international trade, agribusiness, food security, sustainable energy, and technological collaboration in ESG strategies.
