Apple Reintroduces iPhone 15 Pro at Lower Prices on Refurbished Market

by Ivy

Apple has surprised the tech world by offering refurbished versions of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max earlier than expected, marking the first time these models are available at a reduced price. Although Apple typically discontinues Pro models a year after their release, the company has made a noteworthy exception by listing refurbished iPhone 15 Pro models on select international websites, including Spain, Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland. However, U.S. and U.K. customers are currently excluded from these offerings.

The iPhone 15 Pro, with a titanium black finish and 128GB storage, is priced at €949 (approximately $971), which represents a savings of €170 from its original retail price of €1,119. Other configurations, including the 256GB and 512GB models, are also available in black, priced at €1,059 (saving €190) and €1,269 (saving €230), respectively.

Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is seeing significant price reductions in the refurbished market. The 512GB model, initially priced at €1,599, is now offered for €1,359, providing a 15% discount. As of now, availability may be limited, with certain models like the 256GB version of the iPhone 15 Pro being out of stock in some regions, such as Spain.

The refurbished models on Apple’s European websites indicate that U.S. customers may soon see similar offerings. While exact prices for the U.S. market are not yet confirmed, predictions based on the European pricing suggest that Apple could offer significant savings on these devices. For instance, the iPhone 15 Pro 128GB, which was originally priced at $999, may be available for around $849, while the 512GB model, initially priced at $1,299, could drop to approximately $1,105.

In the U.K., the price reductions would likely follow the same pattern, with the iPhone 15 Pro 128GB potentially dropping from £999 to £849, and the 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max from £1,199 to around £1,019.

This early reappearance of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models is a significant shift from previous years when refurbished models typically returned later in the cycle. Last year, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max reappeared in the refurbished market in May, four months after their initial release.

The timing of this move is likely influenced by recent changes in European regulations, which required phones without USB-C connectors to be withdrawn from sale in 27 EU countries, Switzerland, and parts of the U.K. This legislation led to the discontinuation of models like the iPhone 14 and iPhone SE in those regions, paving the way for the introduction of refurbished iPhone 15 models.

Apple’s refurbished phones undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet the company’s high standards. If any components are replaced, only genuine parts are used, and the devices are thoroughly cleaned and repackaged with all necessary accessories.

With the rollout of Apple Intelligence features set for spring 2025 in Europe, the availability of refurbished iPhone 15 Pro models aligns with the company’s preparations to enhance its AI-driven product lineup.
