Retired Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce has garnered attention after receiving approval to build a new home on his expansive Pennsylvania property, valued at $9.6 million. The decision has raised concerns among his neighbors, who fear that the proposed construction could lead to increased flooding risks around their upscale residences.
On February 20, the 37-year-old Kelce appeared before the Haverford Township zoning board to present his plans, which include adding a new house, erecting a security fence, and making significant changes to the landscape. Kelce, accompanied by his wife, Kylie, emphasized the family’s “unique” security needs, noting that the additions would enhance their privacy and safety.
“We want to remain in this neighborhood, and it’s important for us to address some of the security challenges that come with being in the public eye,” Kelce explained during his plea to the zoning board. “We’d like to minimize foot traffic around the property.”
Kelce’s request to level sloped areas of the land in order to build his new home and install a fence sparked concern among nearby residents. They voiced worries that altering the land’s natural slope would increase water runoff, potentially causing flooding in the area. Despite these concerns, Kelce reassured the board that his plans would be carried out with respect for the community’s aesthetics, and that the new fence would blend seamlessly with the neighborhood’s appearance.
After deliberations, the board granted Kelce approval for his plans on the condition that measures for stormwater management be implemented to mitigate potential flood risks. This ensures that the surrounding properties are protected from any adverse effects of the construction.
The Kelce family’s growing real estate portfolio in Haverford has made headlines in recent years. Since 2018, Jason and Kylie have acquired three neighboring properties, creating a 10-acre compound. Reports suggest that Jason plans to demolish the existing structures to make way for a luxurious new mansion at the center of the estate. The couple’s real estate journey began with the purchase of a four-bedroom home for $680,000, and they have since expanded their holdings, including a property bought for $3.96 million in 2020 and another for $1.35 million in 2023.
The Kelces’ investments also extend beyond Haverford. In 2023, they purchased a $2.2 million beachfront property in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The luxurious property boasts stunning views of Ludlam Beach and features wraparound decks and skylights.
Despite his retirement from the NFL, Jason Kelce has found success in other ventures, including his highly popular podcast with his brother Travis, “New Heights.” The brothers signed a lucrative deal with Amazon’s Wondery in 2023 worth over $100 million. Additionally, Jason earns an estimated $1.8 million annually through his role as an analyst for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
Kylie has also made her mark in the entertainment world. Her podcast, “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce,” quickly climbed the charts, topping both Apple and Spotify rankings. The podcast offers insights into her life at home with Jason and their children, while also providing advice for parents.
As the Kelce family prepares to expand with the arrival of their fourth child, their evolving real estate portfolio and successful media endeavors highlight their post-NFL ventures. With a solid financial foundation, it’s clear that Jason and Kylie are building more than just a dream home—they are establishing a legacy.
