Tesla’s recent fourth-quarter production and delivery report reflected a strong finish to 2023. The company reported a total of 484,507 deliveries, marking a significant increase compared to the third quarter when deliveries experienced a slight dip. Having successfully achieved its 2023 delivery goal of 1.8 million units with a precise count of 1,808,581, Tesla faced challenges in the fourth quarter that impacted deliveries. Strikes led by the Swedish IF Metall union posed difficulties for Tesla Sweden, disrupting deliveries. The strikes, which began in October, garnered substantial support and mobility through sympathy strikes, making deliveries challenging, especially towards the end of the fourth quarter.

In addition, delays in Tesla Australia deliveries from China occurred when the ship Glovis Caravel faced restrictions due to biohazard concerns, resulting in undelivered Tesla Model Y units. The ship was sent back to Shanghai, causing delays for Australian customers eagerly awaiting their new Model Y vehicles. Despite these challenges, Tesla’s overall global performance remains robust, setting the stage for an impactful 2024 in the electric vehicle market.
