by Celia

Every year, Apple captures the attention of tech enthusiasts with the launch of a new smartphone. In 2024, the anticipation is building for the unveiling of the iPhone 16, and even though the official launch is still distant, speculations about the device are already making rounds. Recent reports indicate that prototypes of the iPhone 16 Pro models have been leaked, with hints at potential new features. However, it’s essential to approach these rumors with caution, given the distance from the official reveal.

According to a report from MacRumors, mockups of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have been created based on internal designs from Apple. While these prototypes are not final, there’s a likelihood that the actual Pro models will closely resemble these mockups.

The design of the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to share similarities with its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro. Nevertheless, there are notable differences. MacRumors suggests that the displays will be larger, incorporating a capacitive Capture button. Additionally, the 5x tetraprism telephoto camera, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is anticipated to be available on both Pro models this year.

Earlier reports mentioned that the iPhone 16 Pro, codenamed Diablo, would feature a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max, codenamed Lightning, would have a larger 6.9-inch display. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. The increase in size is speculated to accommodate the new camera features.

In terms of buttons, Apple reportedly explored various layouts during development but ultimately settled on a familiar one. All buttons are expected to remain in their usual places, except for the addition of a new Capture button on the right side of the device.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in a recent newsletter, referred to the Capture button as “a new dedicated button for taking video.” MacRumors notes that this button will be flush with the iPhone’s frame, differing from the volume and power buttons.

Leaked information suggests that Apple will continue using Grade 5 Titanium, the same material employed for the iPhone 15 Pro, to build the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. There are hints in Apple’s documentation about a potential introduction of a new color, although specific details about this new color remain undisclosed.

Regarding performance expectations, the iPhone 16 could be powered by the A18 series chips. Rumors indicate that while the standard iPhone 16 might feature an A18 chipset, the Pro models could house the A18 Pro chipset variant.

It’s important to emphasize that these are mere leaks and rumors, and Apple’s final reveal may differ from the speculations.
