Justin Timberlake was arraigned on one count of driving while intoxicated and released from police custody in New York, according to his attorney.
Police observed Timberlake, 43, operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition around 12:37 a.m. Tuesday in Sag Harbor, New York. He was driving a 2025 BMW when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to maintain his lane, according to a statement from the Sag Harbor Police Department.
An officer initiated a traffic stop, during which Timberlake reportedly told police he “had one martini and followed my friends home,” according to court records.
Court documents allege Timberlake had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath.
A Sag Harbor Village Police Department officer described Timberlake as “unable to divide attention,” noting “slowed speech, unsteady footing, and poor performance on all standardized field sobriety tests.” Timberlake also refused a chemical test three times, initially stating, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.”
Following his field sobriety tests, Timberlake was arrested and held overnight for arraignment. He was also cited for running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane, according to his attorney, Ed Burke.
Timberlake was released without bail and is scheduled for a virtual court appearance on July 26, the Suffolk County district attorney’s office told CNN.
Sag Harbor, located in the Hamptons on eastern Long Island, was where Timberlake was arrested after leaving the American Hotel, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Timberlake is currently on tour promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” His next scheduled performance is in Chicago at the United Center on Friday.
Over the weekend, Timberlake shared a heartfelt tribute to his two sons and his plans for Father’s Day in an Instagram post.
“My 2 greatest gifts. I learn more about myself every day just because you both chose me to be your Daddy. I will always be there for you through your peaks and valleys… to lift you up and show you how high you can take this life and to pick you up when you fall. And, of course, to flood you with insufferable Dad-jokes all along the way. I love you both so much. Thank you for giving me my biggest purpose,” Timberlake wrote. “Now… for today: let’s play a game where we all just chill and let Dad watch the final round of The US Open.”
Timberlake, married to producer and actor Jessica Biel since 2012, is the father of two sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3.
