Kevin Costner recently addressed rumors about his relationship with singer Jewel during an interview with Howard Stern, making it clear that they are just friends.
“Jewel and I are friends. We’ve never gone out ever,” Costner stated. “She’s special, and I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have. She’s beautiful enough to go out with.”
The speculation began after Costner, Jewel, Emma Watson, and seven other non-celebrities were invited by mogul Richard Branson to his Necker Island. Costner shared that he had “tremendous conversations” with both Jewel and Watson during the trip.
“I’ve had conversations with [Jewel] via text, and she’s so smart, and she’s been through a lot herself, and so we have a friendship,” he explained. “We don’t have a romance, and we’ve not dated.”
Costner did not deny Jewel’s attractiveness, adding, “She’s beautiful and smart enough for all those things. It just has never happened for us. She’s everything you might think, but it just hasn’t happened.”
In addition to clearing up the rumors, Costner expressed his love for the popular Paramount series “Yellowstone,” in which he starred for five years as patriarch John Dutton. However, he indicated that he wouldn’t be returning unless “the planets want to align up.”
“Which means the storylines, the scripts, and then I want to work more than once a year,” Costner said. “And to do that, times have to be set aside for things. When that couldn’t happen that can’t work for me anymore.”
Costner is currently promoting his new film, “Horizon: An American Saga,” which he co-wrote, co-produced, directed, and stars in. The first installment of the multi-film saga is set to debut in theaters on June 28. The film is distributed by Warner Bros., which is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.
