The Hallmark Channel, in collaboration with the NFL, Skydance Sports, and the Kansas City Chiefs, has unveiled plans to produce a new holiday movie titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” Set to commence filming next month, the movie promises to encapsulate the festive spirit of Kansas City and the passionate fanbase of the Chiefs.
According to a recent press release, the plot revolves around Alana Higman (played by Hunter King), whose family’s deep-seated allegiance to the Kansas City Chiefs positions them as strong contenders for the team’s coveted “Fan of the Year” award. Assessing their fandom is Derrick (portrayed by Tyler Hynes), the team’s director of fan engagement. As Derrick and Alana spend time together during the competition, a romantic connection blossoms between them.
Filming for “Holiday Touchdown” will take place entirely in Kansas City, including scenes shot at the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, the beloved home ground of the Chiefs.
While the storyline of “Holiday Touchdown” draws inspiration from the vibrant fan culture surrounding the Chiefs, the announcement coincides with heightened public interest in the romantic relationship between pop superstar Taylor Swift and Chiefs star player Travis Kelce. Though the movie is not directly based on their romance, the thematic elements and timing suggest a subtle homage to their widely followed relationship.
The involvement of Swift and Kelce in the project, or their endorsement of it, has not been confirmed at this time. Nonetheless, “Holiday Touchdown” is poised to deliver a heartwarming tale that blends holiday cheer with the passion of football fandom and the magic of budding love.
