The 2024 BET Awards, hosted by Taraji P. Henson, kicked off with an electrifying performance by Megan Thee Stallion. The event honored the best in Black entertainment, spanning music, film, television, and sports.
Drake led the nominations with seven nods, including Album of the Year for “For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition),” Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, and two Video of the Year nominations for “First Person Shooter” with J. Cole and “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sexyy Red and SZA.
Close behind was Nicki Minaj with six nominations, including Album of the Year for “Pink Friday 2,” Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and two Best Collaboration nods for “Everybody” with Lil Uzi Vert and “Barbie World” with Ice Spice and Aqua.
Performances by Will Smith and Lauryn Hill dazzled the audience. Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, and Coco Jones delivered a show-stopping tribute to Usher, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Usher also took home the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist trophy.
