Ann Wilson, the iconic lead singer of Heart, has announced a temporary break from performing to focus on her health. The 74-year-old “Barracuda” singer shared on social media platform X on Tuesday that she recently underwent an operation which revealed a cancerous condition.
Wilson reassured her fans that the surgery was successful and that she is feeling well. However, following her doctors’ advice, she will undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy. “My doctors are advising me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover,” she explained.
The announcement affects the band’s “Royal Flush Tour,” originally set to continue until mid-December. All concert dates are now postponed, but Wilson promised fans that her team is working on rescheduling and will provide updates as soon as possible.
Expressing her optimism and determination, Wilson said, “I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.”
The band Heart, co-founded by Ann and her sister Nancy Wilson, has had a significant impact on rock music since the 1970s. Ann’s temporary hiatus is a step towards ensuring her health and longevity, with fans eagerly awaiting her return to the stage next year.
