Ryan Reynolds recently took to Instagram to humorously question, “How is this a job?” while promoting his upcoming film “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Indeed, Reynolds’ promotional activities have resembled an adventure rather than traditional work.
Reynolds, set to reprise his role as Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, for the fourth time, has been touring Shanghai, China, and Seoul, South Korea, alongside his costar Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) and their director Shawn Levy.
Their promotional tour has been marked by memorable and unconventional events, including giant inflatable dolls, an impromptu baseball game, an encounter with a K-Pop boy band, and a spectacular water gun fight in front of a large audience.
On Friday, Reynolds shared a series of images from the Waterbomb Festival in Korea on his verified Instagram account. The festival, which featured a mix of K-pop, water fights, dancing, and joy, saw the stars getting drenched on stage. Reynolds described the festival as “the coolest, most charming mix of K-pop, water-fights, dancing and joy.”
He humorously noted that promoting a film is supposed to be work, but Marvel has essentially funded the best vacation of their lives. “Someone is for sure getting fired over there. Probably Kevin Feige,” he quipped.
Throughout the tour, Jackman and Reynolds have kept up their playful banter, maintaining their faux-frenemy relationship that masks a genuine friendship. The duo has known each other since co-starring in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” where Reynolds made his initial, albeit awkward, debut as Deadpool.
Jackman even shared an Instagram Story from user Avengergram, who humorously captioned a photo of toy figurines of Deadpool and Wolverine: “Seeing all the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ press tour posts is like watching a romantic comedy.”
Next on the agenda for the dynamic superhero duo is a stop in Berlin, Germany.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to hit theaters on July 26.
