Bruce Springsteen, the iconic rock star renowned for his anthems like “Born to Run,” has quashed rumors of retirement, assuring fans he’s not stepping away from the stage anytime soon. During a recent concert in Philadelphia, Springsteen declared his commitment to touring, saying, “We’ve been around for 50 f**king years and we ain’t quitting. We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullsh*t. No farewell tour for the E Street Band.”
Springsteen’s defiant remarks came as he addressed concerns about his future in the wake of ongoing health issues. The 74-year-old rock legend has faced a series of health challenges, leading to several rescheduled shows on the E Street Band’s world tour, which began in February 2023. In May, Springsteen postponed performances in three European cities due to vocal problems, and in September, he announced the rescheduling of over 20 shows to recover from “peptic ulcer disease.” Earlier, he had also canceled some performances due to illness, describing it as having “taken ill.”
The current tour is scheduled to wrap up in November, coinciding with the release of a new documentary film, “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.” The film, set to stream on Disney+ and Hulu this fall, will provide an extensive behind-the-scenes look at the band’s live performances from their 2023-2024 world tour.
Despite his health setbacks, Springsteen remains one of rock’s most celebrated figures, known for his enduring hits such as “Born in the U.S.A.,” “Streets of Philadelphia,” and “Born to Run.”
