Doha: Qatar’s leisure industry is emerging as a promising market, encouraging foreign investments in real estate. This observation was made by H.E. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, during a recent panel session titled “Tourism’s Contributions to the Real Estate Sector.”
Tourism as an Economic Pillar
Al Kharji emphasized that the Qatari leadership recognizes tourism as a vital pillar for economic diversification. He stated, “Our leadership recognizes tourism as one of the main pillars of the diversification of our economy. This works on our shoulders with huge responsibilities and goals to deliver.” By 2030, Qatar aims to attract 6 million visitors annually and increase tourism’s contribution to 12 percent of the GDP, while also doubling employment in this sector.
Positive Visitor Trends
He highlighted a remarkable 25 percent surge in international visitors this year compared to 2023, reflecting the growing appeal of Qatar as a travel destination. Al Kharji noted, “It’s very promising and encouraging for international investment in Qatar,” underscoring the robust interconnection between tourism and real estate.
Strategic Partnerships
Al Kharji discussed the strong relationship between Qatar Tourism and the real estate sector, stating, “The ties between tourism and real estate are not merely interconnected, but a robust partnership.” This collaboration aims to enhance the visitor experience and the overall quality of life in Doha, benefiting both travelers and residents.
Infrastructure and Quality of Life
The Chairman also pointed to Qatar’s impressive infrastructure, including smart technology, eco-friendly buildings, and the state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport, as key components that can boost tourism. He said, “The level of quality of Qatar’s infrastructure can make it easier to reach the national goals and position Qatar as the leading destination of choice.”
Innovative Investment Regulations
Al Kharji emphasized the importance of evolving regulations to attract investments. He stated, “Qatar is one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations, enhanced by improving regulations about investment and buying properties here in Doha.” This welcoming stance toward innovative investment, along with a commitment to improving laws, positions Qatar favorably in the global market.
