2025 Tesla Model Y “Juniper” to Begin Production in Europe at Giga Berlin

by Ivy

Tesla’s production of the updated 2025 Model Y, also known as the “Juniper,” is set to begin almost immediately in Europe, with the first units expected to roll off the production line at Giga Berlin as early as Tuesday, January 14, 2025, according to reports from the German publication Handelsblatt.

Tesla employees at the Berlin Gigafactory were reportedly informed of the launch on Monday, January 13, 2025. The production of the refreshed Model Y comes quickly after the unveiling of the vehicle in China, where the facelifted version was quietly revealed on Tesla’s consumer site last week.

Delayed Delivery for North America and Australia

While European customers will be able to get their hands on the updated Model Y soon, the rollout will take a bit longer in other regions. Reports indicate that the facelifted Model Y won’t reach Australian shores until May 2025. As for North America, there has been no official announcement yet regarding a timeline for deliveries of the updated model.

Despite the quick production start in Berlin, Tesla’s Model Y was already a strong performer in the global market. In the United States, the Model Y was the fourth best-selling vehicle of 2024, behind only the Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, and Toyota RAV4.

Key Updates to the 2025 Model Y

The 2025 Model Y updates closely mirror those made to the Model 3 sedan in 2024. The exterior of the Juniper version features a revamped front end, including a new bumper and headlight assembly, as well as a redesigned taillight that spans the vehicle’s hatchback. Inside, the Model Y benefits from improved material quality, aligning with the high standards introduced in the Model 3, although Tesla has wisely maintained the traditional turn-signal stalk, much to the relief of many users.

Tesla has yet to reveal the pricing for the U.S. market, but it is expected that the updated Model Y will maintain a similar price point to the current model, which starts at around $44,630.

As Tesla begins production of the Juniper Model Y in Europe, it signals the company’s ongoing push to deliver updated versions of its electric vehicles to global markets. With production ramping up quickly at Giga Berlin, the 2025 Model Y is expected to further solidify Tesla’s position in the electric vehicle sector.
