Palmdale Launches Next-Generation Business Watch Program

by Ivy

The City of Palmdale is excited to announce the launch of its redesigned Business Watch program, offering local businesses powerful tools and resources to enhance security and combat crime. This innovative initiative aims to create a safer community while providing invaluable support to business owners.

At the heart of this groundbreaking program is a dedicated Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy and Palmdale Public Safety team assigned to each participating business. This ensures personalized attention and expert advice for business owners. Participants will receive insights into local crime trends, learn to recognize and prevent criminal activity, and gain strategies to protect against shoplifting, fraud, and counterfeit currency. Additionally, free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) consultations will be available to help configure business spaces to deter criminal activity effectively.

“Palmdale’s transformed Business Watch is free and designed to educate local establishments and their employees on techniques to enhance security,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “Crime has no place in Palmdale, and we remain dedicated to equipping our community with the resources and support needed to protect against unlawful acts.”

The next-generation program also offers a host of valuable benefits. The first 250 businesses to join the program will receive free Ring spotlight cameras, available on a first-come, first-served basis. By participating, businesses will not only gain essential security knowledge but will also build strong relationships with neighboring business owners, the City’s Public Safety team, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). Business Watch is open at no cost to any business within the incorporated City of Palmdale limits.

“This is a significant step towards achieving a secure community that allows our local businesses to thrive,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “I encourage all business owners and employees to sign up and take advantage of this great program and its many resources. Vigilance is good business, and business is good for Palmdale.”
