The voluntary administrators of Regional Express Holdings Limited (ASX: REX) have officially launched a sale and/or recapitalisation process for the airline group.
Administrators Adam Nikitins, Samuel Freeman, and Justin Walsh from Ernst & Young have engaged Houlihan Lokey to oversee the process. This move is expected to generate strong interest from potential buyers or investors.
Regional Express, commonly known as Rex Airlines, entered voluntary administration earlier this month due to financial difficulties and escalating debt. The airline, which operates regional and domestic flights across Australia, faces stiff competition from larger carriers such as Qantas and Virgin Australia.
The outcome of the sale process will determine whether Rex Airlines will be sold, restructured, or revitalized through new investment. Although no specific timeline has been provided, the administrators plan to update stakeholders in the coming weeks as the situation evolves.
