Rudy Giuliani Puts $9.7 Million NYC Penthouse Back on Market Following Legal Battles

by Ivy

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor and attorney for former President Donald Trump, has once again listed his Manhattan penthouse for sale, less than a month after resolving a high-profile legal dispute. The apartment, valued at $9.7 million, is up for sale just after Giuliani managed to retain ownership following a defamation lawsuit.

Giuliani, 80, was previously ordered to surrender the property to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two election workers whom he had falsely implicated in election fraud claims after the 2020 presidential race. In October 2024, a court found Giuliani liable for defamation and ordered him to pay $148 million in damages to the mother-daughter duo. Initially, Freeman and Moss sought to seize Giuliani’s Manhattan home and his Palm Beach property as part of the judgment enforcement.

However, in January 2025, Giuliani announced that he had reached an agreement with Freeman and Moss, which allowed him to retain both his New York penthouse and Florida residence. Giuliani took to social media to confirm that the resolution did not involve any admission of guilt or liability, though a February court ruling determined he had fulfilled his financial obligations.

The controversy surrounding the property dates back to earlier in 2024, when Freeman and Moss took legal action to claim control over Giuliani’s assets, including his New York apartment, as part of efforts to enforce the court-ordered damages. Giuliani had previously been accused of attempting to evade the court’s directives by removing valuable items from his apartment, including luxury watches, memorabilia, and a classic car.

Despite these legal entanglements, Giuliani has re-listed the property at a reduced price of $8.5 million, after initially setting the asking price at $6.5 million in 2023. The penthouse, located on the Upper East Side near Central Park, features classic amenities such as a wood-paneled library, wood-burning fireplace, and expansive views of the city. The co-op building, dating back to 1906, is staffed with 24/7 attendants and offers a monthly fee of approximately $10,700.

This listing follows a series of legal and financial setbacks for Giuliani, including a federal investigation into his activities related to Ukraine. The former mayor’s tumultuous year has continued to draw public attention, particularly after the FBI searched his home in 2021 in connection with the investigation. Giuliani’s latest attempt to sell the property comes amid ongoing scrutiny and after a brief period of controversy over the management of his assets during the legal proceedings.

While Giuliani’s legal battles may be behind him, the penthouse continues to stand as a symbol of his tumultuous recent years. Whether it will find a buyer in a market that has seen fluctuating interest in luxury properties remains to be seen.
