Singapore Airlines (SQ) and American Express have unveiled a series of significant upgrades to their joint Business Credit Card, set to enhance travel rewards and redemption opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The refreshed benefits will come into effect on April 23, 2025, offering business owners increased value on their travel expenditures.
Improved Rewards and Benefits for Cardholders
One of the key enhancements to the American Express Singapore Airlines Business Credit Card is the increase in the conversion limit for HighFlyer points to KrisFlyer miles. The conversion threshold has been raised from 100,000 to 150,000 HighFlyer points, with a favorable 1:1 conversion rate. This provides cardholders with greater opportunities to convert their points into valuable KrisFlyer miles for future travel.
Additionally, card members can now attain KrisFlyer Elite Gold status with just 100,000 HighFlyer points, reduced from the previous requirement of 125,000 points. This adjustment allows for quicker access to premium travel privileges, significantly benefiting frequent business travelers.
For new members of the HighFlyer program, businesses will earn 10,000 HighFlyer points after their first flight is booked via the Singapore Airlines HighFlyer portal. Furthermore, corporate travelers can achieve accelerated KrisFlyer Elite Gold status by spending a minimum of S$15,000 on eligible Singapore Airlines (SQ) and Scoot (TR) flights in the first year of their Card membership.
In recognition of loyalty, cardholders will also earn 6,000 HighFlyer points upon paying their annual membership renewal fee.
New Earning Structure to Boost Travel Rewards
The updated card features an enhanced reward structure, allowing users to accumulate up to 8 HighFlyer points per S$1 spent on eligible Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights. The breakdown includes:
- 2 HighFlyer points per S$1 spent on qualifying Singapore Airlines Group transactions.
- An additional 1 bonus HighFlyer point per S$1 spent on qualifying Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights.
- 5 HighFlyer points per S$1 for HighFlyer members purchasing eligible flight tickets.
- 1.2 HighFlyer points per S$1 spent on all other eligible purchases.
The card continues to offer existing benefits, such as:
- 0% interest on six-month installments for Singapore Airlines flight bookings.
- Complimentary Accor Plus membership, including an annual free night stay and dining discounts at AccorHotels across Asia Pacific.
- Hertz Gold status, with a 10% discount on retail rates and car upgrades.
New Pricing and Strategic Vision
Effective April 23, 2025, the American Express Singapore Airlines Business Credit Card will carry an annual fee of S$400, including 9% GST.
