Aces of Trades: Lyndsey Vance’s dream comes true

by Celia

She changed careers and finds it a “truly fulfilling experience”.

“As a child, I loved office supplies,” recalls Lyndsey Vance, “so my earliest career goal was anything that required the use of office supplies on a daily basis. As I got older, my dreams became a little more specific. Even as a young child, I was interested in property. On Sundays, King Thompson Realty had a show/infomercial that scrolled through active listings with photos and narrated a property description. I looked forward to watching it every week.

Today, Vance is a Realtor and member of The Bridge Group, Generations Realty.
“I am an SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) accredited agent,” she explained, “but I represent buyers and sellers of all ages from all walks of life. As an investor, I’m also a co-owner of JL Vance Investments LLC.

Career change came from the pandemic
“I was a practicing nurse for more than a decade,” she said. “When I first chose a career path, I was drawn to nursing because it is so fulfilling to care for and help people. Buying and selling property and flipping houses was a pipe dream. When COVID hit in 2020, I was a school nurse with three young children of my own. When school resumed on a modified schedule, my husband and I decided it would be best for our family if I stayed home with the kids to oversee their studies on the hybrid days when they weren’t actually in school.”

“We also own and operate Rob’s Hauling Dumpster Service, which has been in business since 1992,” Vance continues. “I took the lead role in running this business while I was at home. Through that business I made a lot of contacts, learned about dealing with contractors and really got into the customer service aspect of things. My husband and I started to talk about growing our business and what that might look like. What other opportunities there were in relation to our already established business and network. That brainstorming session, along with the pipe dream that never went away, sent me down the real estate path.

Vance became an estate agent in 2021.

“The global changes due to the pandemic gave me the opportunity to slow down, take a step back and really evaluate what I wanted and what my family needed,” she added.

Blair Rowland is the founder of The Bridge Group, Generations Realty.

“Lyndsey is one of the most amazing and loyal people you will ever meet,” said Rowland. “I have been blessed to call her a friend for nearly 30 years. With a servant’s heart and an unwavering love for those close to her and her community, it was a no-brainer that I wanted her to join my real estate team, The Bridge Group. I knew from day one that I wanted to work with her. Real estate is so much more than buying and selling property and Lyndsey understands that. The passion and dedication she brings to her clients is something you will not find in just anyone.

“Representing and advocating for clients is truly a fulfilling experience,” Vance responded. “I often consider how fortunate I am where I am. I think about what I might have said if 20 years ago someone had told me this is how things would be. I don’t know if I would have believed them or not, but I sure would have been excited!”
