iOS 17.0.2, iPadOS 17.0.2 and watchOS 10.0.2 are available with bug fixes related to initial device setup and data transfer.
Small operating system point updates usually contain critical security and bug fixes that can’t wait for a full release. Since there’s no sign of iOS 17.1 being released any time soon, Apple is updating in smaller increments.
On Tuesday, Apple released iOS 17.0.2, iPadOS 17.0.2 and watchOS 10.0.2 to the public. iOS 17.0.2 was previously released for iPhone 15 models, but is now available for all iPhone models running the OS.
The iOS and iPadOS releases have build number 21A351, which is up from build 21A340 released on 21 September.
The updates don’t have any listed CVE entries, but they do fix a bug related to initial device setup. The update text states that it fixes an issue that could prevent data from being transferred directly from another iPhone/iPad during setup.
watchOS 10.0.2 is build number 21R371, up from 21R360. It only states that it includes bug fixes and security updates for the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, but likely also addresses data transfer issues.
Anyone running iOS 17, iPadOS 17 or watchOS 10 on the affected devices is advised to update as soon as possible. This update should be installed before attempting a device transfer.
