New products from Apple

by Celia

Apple is gearing up for its second product event of the season, a month after unveiling its new iPhone 15 range.

The online-only event will kick off on Monday at 8pm EST / 5pm PST, an unusually late start time for Apple keynotes. Some analysts said the decision to hold an evening event may underline the fact that this isn’t likely to be one of Apple’s bigger announcements of the year.

The event’s tagline – “scary fast” – is an apparent reference to the likely unveiling of its next-generation M3 silicon chip, as well as Tuesday’s Halloween holiday. The company is expected to unveil new iMac computers with the new powerful chipset, which should also boost Mac sales. Mac sales have fallen this year amid weaker demand, excess inventory and a worsening macroeconomic climate.

It’s also possible that Apple will unveil new accessories as the company moves to a universal USB-C charging system. There are no rumours of a new iPad launch at the moment.

Last month, Apple unveiled its iPhone 15 devices with a slimmer design, a more advanced main camera system, a customisable Action button and USB-C charging.
