ROCKFORD, Illinois – The largest real estate company in the state, Dickerson & Nieman, is merging with Pioneer Real Estate to expand its services.
The new Dickerson & Neiman has been in discussions for about six months and will officially begin operations in early 2024. The company will take on around 20 new experienced staff from Pioneer Real Estate to join its staff of around 120 agents. President Frank Wehrstein says the merger will allow the company to offer more training opportunities for employees and more management.
“We’re one of the few companies that actually has management, staff and weekly sales meetings,” says Wehrstein. “It sounds simple, but most companies give up some of that when times get tough. We don’t. In a sense, we’re doubling down.
With more staff, the new Dickerson & Nieman is taking on property management, something it previously did not have enough staff to do. The company also offers real estate sales, new home construction and remodeling services as far south as Quincy, Illinois. The merger will make Dickerson & Nieman a one-stop shop for the housing market.
“The new Dickerson & Nieman is going to be a full-service, one-stop shop,” says Larry Holen, the company’s new general manager. “We’re going to take a little time to merge the two companies, there’s certainly a learning curve for all of us, but this is the perfect time to do it.”
Dickerson & Nieman says it prides itself on its “local flavour”. With agents who live and serve the Rockford area, the company says it has built relationships with other businesses in the area. Holen says the philanthropic aspects of Dickerson & Nieman are what led Pioneer Real Estate to join forces.
“We’re really focused on our community. Dickerson really reflects that focus. We really appreciate the opportunity to work with them,” says Holen. “These are two local legacy companies coming together to make a new company even stronger.”
Dickerson & Nieman has served the Rockford area for more than 50 years and has three offices in northern Illinois. They currently operate as one of the top real estate firms in the country.
