In an unexpected turn of events, a holiday celebration for employees of Airbus Atlantic, a subsidiary of the European aeronautics giant Airbus, resulted in dozens falling ill after a company Christmas party held earlier this month.
Approximately 100 employees of Airbus Atlantic in France reported falling ill due to a food-borne illness contracted during the company-organized Christmas lunch, according to a statement provided by an Airbus spokesperson. The incident occurred on December 15, leaving employees affected by an unspecified food-related ailment.
The Airbus spokesperson clarified that no severe illnesses were reported, and all affected employees had returned to work by the following Monday. Airbus Atlantic, established in January 2022, specializes in airplane seats and operates with 13,000 employees across five countries. However, the incident in question specifically took place in France.
French health authorities have taken charge of the investigation into the outbreak of illness following the Christmas celebration, as confirmed by the Airbus spokesperson. Emphasizing the isolated nature of the event, the spokesperson assured that all employees were on the path to recovery.
“The health of our employees remains our primary concern, and we are fully cooperating with the ARS health agency to identify the cause of the illness and ensure this cannot happen again in the future,” stated the Airbus spokesperson.
As the investigation unfolds, the Airbus subsidiary and health authorities collaborate to ascertain the cause of the illness and implement preventive measures to safeguard against any future occurrences.
