Apple is gearing up for the mass shipment of its highly anticipated Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, with deliveries expected to commence in the first week of January, according to renowned supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The device is slated to hit Apple Stores by late January or early February, as the tech giant aims to ship around 500,000 units for a robust product launch.
While Apple officially unveiled the Vision Pro in June, with a tentative release date set for “early 2024,” Kuo’s recent insights align with a report from Apple analyst Mark Gurman, suggesting a potential February launch. Previously, industry speculation hinted at a March release.
Gurman’s sources indicate that Apple is actively accelerating production of the Vision Pro at its Chinese facilities, running at full capacity for several weeks. The company has reportedly reached out to software developers, urging them to prepare for the headset’s launch by testing their apps and soliciting feedback. Additionally, Apple plans to train its retail staff on effectively presenting and demonstrating the Vision Pro to potential customers.
However, the success of the Vision Pro remains uncertain, with one potential hurdle being its hefty price tag of $3,499. Despite rumors of a more affordable version in development, its availability in stores may take some time.
As the anticipated launch approaches, Apple’s strategic initiatives and collaboration with developers indicate a strong push for the Vision Pro to make a significant impact in the mixed-reality headset market.
