In High Point, North Carolina, a local pastor found himself on the wrong side of the law after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a McDonald’s employee on Thursday.
According to records from the High Point Police Department, the incident unfolded when the manager-in-training at a McDonald’s on South Main Street claimed her employees were disrespecting her. Feeling the need for assistance, she called her husband, identified as 57-year-old Dwayne Waden, who is also a pastor.
Upon entering the establishment, Waden reportedly bypassed the counter, placing his hands around the neck of the victim and pushing his head towards the deep fryer, as detailed in police records. The assault continued with Waden delivering multiple punches to the victim’s face until fellow employees intervened and pulled him away.
Police reports state that the victim sustained significant contusions to the forehead and right eye, along with scratches on the neck. Although medical assistance was offered, the victim opted to be taken to the hospital by family members for treatment of his injuries.
Dwayne Waden, who serves as the pastor of Elevated Life International Ministries in High Point, now faces charges of misdemeanor simple assault, as indicated in police records. Following his arrest, he was released on a $1,000 bond on Friday, with a scheduled court appearance set for January 22.
