Tesla’s latest iteration of the Model 3 sedan, previously introduced in Europe, the Middle East, and China, has now made its debut in North America. Codenamed “Highland” during development, this refreshed version brings noticeable changes to Tesla’s popular electric sedan.
Externally, the updated Model 3 features a sleeker hood and low-profile headlights, eliminating the distinctive bump in the front end. Tesla emphasizes that these adjustments are geared towards maximizing aerodynamics, potentially leading to increased range. Additionally, two new color options, Stealth Grey and Ultra Red, have been introduced.
In Tesla’s configurator, the 2024 Model 3 refresh is the sole option for ordering in North America. Unlike the previous lineup with three versions, buyers now choose between a Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model with dual motors or the more affordable Rear-Wheel Drive version. The former Performance model is no longer available, at least for the time being.
The 2024 Long Range Tesla Model 3 boasts an EPA estimated range of up to 341 miles, surpassing its predecessor’s 333 miles. Meanwhile, the rear-wheel model maintains a listed range of 272 miles.
Both versions retain the same starting price as the previous year’s models, but there’s an additional change to note. The top speed for both the Long Range AWD and Rear-Wheel Drive versions of the new 2024 Model 3 is now listed at 125 mph, a decrease from the 2023 rear-wheel model’s 140 mph, the Long Range’s 145 mph, and the Performance model’s 162 mph.
Tesla highlights several upgrades for the new model, including new acoustic glass for a quieter cabin, improved ride quality through updated suspension tuning, enhanced interior materials for a more sophisticated feel, ventilated seats, customizable ambient lighting, a brighter center touchscreen with smaller bezels and improved contrast, and an upgraded sound system featuring up to 17 speakers.
