by Celia

Australia experienced a substantial expansion of its public DC fast charger network for electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2023, with Tesla’s Supercharger V3 Network leading the charge and contributing to over half of the country’s electric vehicle charging capacity growth, according to the Australian Electric Vehicle Public Fast Charger Report by Next System.

The report, which analyzed data from Carloop, encompassed various metrics such as the number of EV charging sites, charging stalls, and overall installed capacity across the nation.

Despite holding a seemingly modest 10% market share based on the raw number of EV charging sites in Australia, Tesla demonstrated strong performance in terms of total charging units and overall installed capacity, as per The Driven’s report.

The report from Next System highlighted Tesla’s exceptional average of 5.9 chargers per site in Australia, surpassing the average of other networks by more than three times. Additionally, Tesla’s chargers boasted higher power ratings, indicating a strategic focus on establishing EV charging locations capable of accommodating more vehicles and delivering reliable rapid charging services.

The surge in Tesla’s contribution to Australia’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure underscores the company’s commitment to advancing the accessibility and efficiency of charging solutions for the growing EV market in the country.
