President Biden delivered a pointed critique of former President Trump on Saturday, accusing the GOP frontrunner of lacking substantive positions during a visit to his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, near his family residence.
In his address, Biden underscored the significance of democracy and highlighted his recent surge in the polls. Without directly mentioning Trump, Biden remarked, “I’m feeling good about where we are, I really am. You know, folks are starting to focus in and the guy we’re running against, he is — he’s not for anything, he’s against everything.”
Characterizing the current campaign as unconventional and remarking on Trump’s behavior, Biden emphasized the importance of the upcoming general election, reflecting on his past speeches underscoring democratic values.
During his overseas trips, Biden noted the support he has received from other world leaders for his reelection bid, citing recent polling data that shows him leading Trump by six points among registered voters in a hypothetical matchup.
However, acknowledging the diversity of polling outcomes, Biden referenced a new CNN poll indicating Trump leading by four points, signaling a competitive race ahead.
The president’s address at his campaign headquarters signals an escalation in his reelection efforts, with Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff joining him to show their support.
