Notably, Android expert Mishaal Rahman identified a potential remedy during the Android 14 QPR2 beta phase—a feature designed to automatically lower notification volume in response to a flurry of consecutive alerts from the same app. With the unveiling of Android 15’s first developer preview, Rahman has confirmed the inclusion of this feature, aptly named “Notification cooldown.”
Accessible through the main notifications settings page under Settings → Notifications → Notification cooldown, this functionality promises to offer respite from notification overload without the need for manual intervention. Although initial screenshots shared by Rahman lack a toggle switch or clear activation method, indications suggest that this feature will evolve in subsequent builds leading up to the public beta release.
Once widely implemented, Notification cooldown is poised to alleviate the burden of constant notifications, allowing users to remain undisturbed by incessant alerts without sacrificing awareness of important calls or messages.
