Tesla has initiated the rollout of its latest software update, introducing a new one-time charge limit feature alongside support for adaptive high beams in select regions.
The deployment of software update 2024.8 has commenced for Tesla vehicles, showcasing the incorporation of the novel one-time charge functionality. Additionally, European markets will now benefit from the inclusion of adaptive high beam support, initially available for the redesigned Model S and Model X, as well as Model Y and legacy Model 3 units, as previously disclosed (via Not a Tesla App).
While the upgraded high beam functionality is currently exclusive to Europe, Tesla is actively engaged in extending this feature to the U.S. Lars Moravy, Tesla’s Head of Vehicle Engineering, highlighted the imminent rollout during Monday’s announcement, underscoring the company’s commitment to introducing “more regions and features.”
The adaptive high beam technology enables headlights to detect fellow road users, including motorists and cyclists, automatically adjusting the high beams to minimize glare. Notably, the release notes emphasize that by selectively dimming individual pixels within the headlights, the high beams will remain illuminated more frequently, thereby enhancing nighttime visibility while accommodating external surroundings.
Moreover, drivers can conveniently activate the new headlight feature through the vehicle’s Lights menu, accessible under the Adaptive High Beams setting.
Furthermore, drivers can now opt for the one-time charge limit feature when preparing for extended journeys. By surpassing the standard charge limit recommended for daily driving, Tesla vehicles will prompt users to select a one-time charge limit option. Following the completion of the trip, the vehicle will seamlessly revert to the previous daily charge limit.
The adaptive headlights feature was initially integrated into the enhanced Model 3 released by Tesla in European and other international markets last year, subsequently extending its availability to North America with the refreshed vehicle’s introduction in January.
